Is our dog addicted to bars and pubs?
Boo is no alcoholic! He’s more of a ‘treat-aholic‘ !
How do we know Boo our beloved dog is addicted to bars and pubs? Well….last week, we walked Boo through our local park, on one of his (and our) preferred, local ‘not-too-labourious’ routes. However, this time he strolled off the usual path.
Then he stopped, almost ‘pointer-like’, his nose indicating towards the magnificent gated south entrance. Boo was physically demonstrating a strong desire to go through them ( we knew this because he kept turning his head towards us and then moving it towards the gate!).
Now, this was hitherto unusual for Boo. Because neither of us could recollect any previous attempts at this sort of behaviour. Then it dawned on us! He wanted to go to one of the local bars just a stone’s throw away. And his nose was pointing to the bar at which he often, greatfully recieved lots of ‘doggie’ treats! (Although we do try to limit Boo’s ‘extra’ treats.)
Boo waiting for his treat at the bar he was pointing us towards from our local park. To be fair, this particular bar, wonderfully welcomes all kinds of well-behaved hounds to its outdoor area. It is the nearest one to our park walk and there is always the offer of at least one free doggie treat.
Then, this happened….
Yes, our lovely four-legged friend only fluttered his gorgeous eyelashes at staff for seconds, before he was able to greedily wolf down some delicious doggie treats.
So the answer to our simple question is “Yes, Boo, our beloved dog is addicted to bars and pubs! But it’s not for the beer, the atmosphere or the interesting chat. Boo simply wants to be with us – and of course he wants to gracefully accept any treats that might be offered to him!
